For eight years, artist Jenna Rose Simon struggled with an eating disorder that left her underweight and often sick. Now, the 28-year-old is using her art to bring awareness to some of the struggles people with eating disorders may face.
"At first, my art was really just a way for me to cope in my own difficult situations. As I started discussing my problems, I found it hard to keep eating disorder behaviors under control," Simon told Revelist.
Although some of her work is specific to eating disorders, many of her drawings are relevant to anyone who has experienced an extremely painful life event.
"Now I really try to draw both for myself and for others. I often draw concepts that I know are relevant in society today, knowing that someone who follows me will appreciate it and it'll help them feel less alone," she said.
