Janet Jackson Gives Birth To First Child At The Age Of 50

More women are having children later in life.

Congratulations are in order for singer Janet Jackson, who gave birth to her first child at the age of 50.

Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana welcomed the baby Tuesday. Jackson is the latest celebrity to delay having children until later in life, following in the footsteps of Madonna, whose son Rocco was born when she was 41, and Gwen Stefani, whose son Apollo came to the world when she was 44.

Jackson's pregnancy wasn't without controversy, with many questioning why she waited so long. While she hasn't revealed any details about her pregnancy, the video above shows that lots of factors can affect a woman's choice to grow her family. Additionally, technology has made it possible to prolong when women have children.
