While we were feeling empowered watching Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones's Baby last weekend, little did we know that Patrick Dempsey's character was almost played by Late Late Show host James Corden. At least, according to the audition James shared on the show Wednesday night.
After being told they're looking for a "charismatic British lead" to replace Hugh Grant in the new film, James might go a little too far with the whole "British" thing. First, he puts a tad too much of Grant's signature stammering into his performance. And it only gets more and more British from there, as James embodies some pretty iconic roles, costumes included.
Unfortunately, his Harry Potter impression doesn't quite put a spell on Renee.
And something tells us Queen Elizabeth is not the father of Bridget's baby. Just a hunch.
And even if Gandalf is the father, this really isn't the best thing to say during childbirth.
In the end, it's no wonder they decided to skip the whole British thing and just go with an American. Better luck next time, James.
