Has The Greatest Question In All Of Science Finally Been Answered?

The world finally knows.

The world is full of unanswerable questions.

Some of them are small:

"Why do so many socks get lost in the laundry?"

"Why can't I ever insert a USB correctly on the first try?"

Some of them are big:

"What is the meaning of life?"

"What happens when we die?"

"Do you view the color red the same way I do?"

The bigger questions have sparked religions and philosophies since the beginning of humanity. Debates about them have caused wars and shaped nations.

It may be surprising, but none of those questions are really important.

There's only really one question that we actually need to get through our lives.

"How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?"

Since it was introduced in 1931, countless people have tried to get through the hard candy to the Tootsie Roll without biting it, but it always seems to end in failure. Nobody knew how long it took to get to the center without cutting to the chase and chomping through it.

We almost learned what it was back in 1970 until a meddling owl with a bad hat ruined everything.

"The world may never know," was the unsatisfying answer we were left with. It has been almost 50 years, and we have been wondering ever since.

Thankfully, Joe Hanson of It's Okay To Be Smart has taken it upon himself to answer the question that has plagued humanity for so long.

"How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?"

Find out once and for all here:

Thank you, Dr. Hanson. The world is forever indebted to you.

Happy April Fool's Day!
