Wearable technology is definitely having its moment. From light up dresses to 3-D printed shoes, technology is giving fashion a futuristic makeover. The latest innovation in the high-tech high fashion scene is the "Butterfly Dress" designed by sisters Ezra and Tuba Çetin.
"We love to play with fabrics, designs, colors, movement and aesthetics, but the future of clothing as we know it is about to change," Tuba says in the video below. "To be part of this change we need technology."
The garment is made from jacquard and metallic fibers and is embedded with proximity sensors that enable the butterflies on the dress to respond to stimuli. When someone approaches the person wearing the dress, the butterflies start to flutter. Once they get close enough, all 40 butterflies are released into the air. The butterflies can also be released anytime on a mobile device using Wi-Fi.
Now that's a statement piece.
