This Workbook Empowers Girls By Teaching Them About Iconic Women In Politics

"When these very young women copy these inspiring words with their own hands, they are making it theirs."

It's never too early to teach girls that they're powerful — and that they can use that power to make a difference in the world.

Here to help you teach that lesson is IGNITE, a nonprofit that aims to to build political ambition when girls and young women. They've recently released the Writing Our Rights empowerment workbook to help girls improve their handwriting while learning about political female leaders.

"This writing workbook isn't filled with cute rhymes or silly expressions," the IGNITE wrote on its website. "Instead, girls will find words from 10 of the most iconic female politicians in American history. Copying them will teach more than handwriting. It will teach girls that they are powerful and capable of becoming leaders."

The workbook contains quotes and excerpts from dozens of speeches from women such as Susan B. Anthony, Sandra Day O'Connor, Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and more. The pages are perforated so that if a girl loves the inspirational quote she reads, she can tear it out and use it as a poster. At the end of the book, she'll discover a section to write her own words of inspiration and hope for the future.

"We believe that introduction to leadership at a young age is as a fundamental as learning to write," Anne Moses, founder and president of IGNITE, said in a press release. "We hope that these words from 10 of the most iconic female politicians in American history will teach girls that they are powerful and capable of becoming political leaders someday too."

The IGNITE team created the workbook help from the award-winning global advertising agency, Pereira & O'Dell.

"Writing is an act of ownership. When these very young women copy these inspiring words with their own hands, they are making it theirs," PJ Pereira, chief creative officer and co-founder of Pereira & O'Dell, said in a press release.

The more girls learn about female trailblazers, the more they'll see them as role models for the bright futures ahead of them.
