Houston Man Plays Piano In A Flooded Home, Providing A Haunting Look At Hurricane Harvey's Devastation

"I am excited to see the new beauty in the suffering."

A video of one Houston resident has been going viral the past few days, providing the rest of the world a window into the melancholy and destruction Hurricane Harvey has left in its wake

Aric Harding — a father of seven who lives in Friendswood, Texas — shared an Instagram video featuring him playing the piano in his flooded home. The video itself is haunting but the outlook Harding has about the whole situation is quite uplifting and hopeful.

"I went back to our street today because as you guys have probably seen the water has come back with a vengeance. I hope this was its high point," Harding begins. "I grabbed the kids' favorite stuffed animals that we had left behind and a couple of games to keep the kids occupied. I think it's all finally sinking in a little. What we used to have going as a city is gone. I really think God is going to do something completely new here. I am excited to see the new beauty in the suffering."

There have been many images of strength in the face of tragedy coming out of the path of the storm, whether it be a well-prepared dog, a life-saving reporter, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, a group of neighbors coming together, or a group of Muslim men rescuing those in need. Harding is just one of these many figures showing the resilience of Houstonians.

"I decided to take a moment and play and take it all in," Harding told CNN, also revealing that a complete stranger offered to send he and his family a new piano after seeing the video.

Now, since the natural disaster has weakened, things are slowly rebuilding.
