If you were given $100 to spend on groceries, what would you purchase?
Some people would answer that question by putting the needs of their family first while others would use the opportunity to indulge in some of their favorite goodies. The most savvy spenders would likely think hard about the best strategy to get the most bang for their buck.
The brilliant minds over at Cut.com gave $100 to eight different households with varying incomes and lifestyles to see just how differently they would spend the money. From a software engineer who is also a mother of two to an unemployed married couple to a college student, priorities clearly differed.
Here's how some of them stacked up against each other.
Karen, 19, college student
"Usually, every day I eat pizza-related stuff," Karen says. "I don't think I'm good with money at all."
Komal, 35, software engineer
"There are families back in India for whom that's like the monthly income," Komal points out.
Mick and Anthony, 46 and 36, unemployed
"Money means getting by," Mick says. "I think we've been out to eat twice in the last year."
Tripp, 30, bartender
"I would say I drink, probably, at least six days a week," Tripp admits.
Check out how the other households spent their $100 in the video below:
Not only is it interesting to see how people with different lifestyles spend their money, it also shows us how we can make better decisions when it comes to our wallets. If you're a big budgeter, consider letting yourself indulge once in awhile. If you're looking to spend money smarter, take a good, hard look at where your money is going and do some reevaluating.
