This Homeless Man Was Given 100 Dollars. What He Did With It Will Make You Tear Up

Get the tissues ready.

"Don't give that homeless man money. He'll just spend it on booze."

Most of us have heard this phrase over and over, and it's only a matter of time before the message becomes engrained.

But is it true?

YouTuber Josh Paler Lin set out on a mission to find out.

In the video below, Lin gives a homeless man named Thomas $100 to see how he will spend the money.

What happens may surprise you.

Thomas' genuine appreciation for the money is apparent as he tears up, goes in for a hug, and assures Lin he will make good use of the gift.

But through the lens of a hidden camera, we see Thomas immediately head to a liquor store. This seems to confirm suspicions that homeless people misuse money.

But if you assumed Thomas bought alcohol, you assumed wrong. He actually bought food to give to others in need.

Lin was so touched by what he witnessed, he gave Thomas another $100.

"I wasn't expecting to get this kind of footage," says Lin in his video description. "To be honest, I thought this video would be more an exposing homeless people video at first. But I'm so glad that I could witness and capture such a beautiful moment... I did not only just help a homeless man, but I actually met an incredible human being and a friend."

Thomas tells Lin there are things money can't buy, and that he gets happiness out of what he is doing.

He reminds us lots of people end up on the street without falling prey to stereotypical vices. Many, like Thomas, end up homeless due to circumstance, and are good people just trying to make it in the world.

So never judge a book by its cover.
