High School Sweethearts Reunite 63 Years Later, Get Married
Better late than never.
They dated as teenagers, but after six decades, they fell in love once again.
In a story similar to that of The Notebook, Marcella and Johnny reunited in marriage a whopping 63 years after they first dated — in high school. KAIT8 reports that after the two stopped dating, they went their separate ways and didn't keep in touch.
They married others, Marcella for 39 years and Johnny for 58, until both of their spouses had passed away. Then, fate brought them together, again.
"We spent the day together, and we"ve gone from there and picked up where we left off when we were teenagers," Marcella told ABC News. "I think at the very beginning we realized when we saw each other that we cared very much for each other. At our age now we were kind of hesitant at first but we realized a few weeks in that we were in love and wanted to get married."
They had a ceremony last Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah and are currently on their honeymoon in Missouri.
"Mom had a wooden box that she had from the days when she was a teenager, and his name was in that box," Marcella's daughter told ABC.
Clearly, love has no expiration date.
