Sometimes life can get in the way of a good night's sleep. So we roll out of bed, eyes half-shut, head straight for the coffee — and then repeat the routine every day.
But not getting enough sleep could lead to a whole slew of issues, from relationship problems to long and short-term health problems.
How are we sleeping?
According to Happify, adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep per night, but 42 percent of Americans say they're getting less than that.
But getting proper sleep has valuable short and long-term effects worth noting.
So try this:
Remember those four cups of coffee you guzzled at work? Or notice how many phone, TV, and tablet screens you have in your bedroom? These, among other factors like alcohol, exercise, and even your pets, can be adjusted to ensure positive changes in your sleeping habits.
And once you sleep, you'll reap the benefits.
