With Thanksgiving nearing, many of us are preparing for a day filled with turkey, cranberry sauce and, of course, pie. Lots and lots of pie.
But while you may be inclined to pull up a chair, grab a fork, and eat all you can as fast as you can, it might be a better idea to instead take your time and be more mindful of what you are consuming. According to some scientific reports, mindfulness can change the way you eat for the better.
Happify, a website with science-based activities to help us live happier, healthier lives, recently released an infographic that explains how mindfulness is beneficial for your health on many different levels. For instance, mindful eating can help a person maintain a healthy body weight, better their cardiovascular health, and reduce blood sugar levels for adults with Type 2 diabetes, among other positive effects. The infographic also provides five tips for mindful eating and some positive practices to help support such efforts.
