If You Look Closer At These Street Signs, You'll Notice Something Unusual About Them

Shout outs on the street.

In a clever and provocative public arts project, artist Jay Shells made offical-looking sreet signs emblazoned with famous hip-hop lyrics that reference specific sites throughout the city, and then strategically installed at those various locations.

Among the songs he has posted lyrics from are Jay-Z's "Where I'm From," Big Daddy Kane's "Stop Shammin," and Genius & GZA's "Investigative Reports. Shells has put up more than 30 signs in all.

This cool, ride-along video documents his work as he cruises across town mounting his installations.
