Students attending class at public colleges in Texas will notice something new next fall: guns in the classrooms. And Texas is not alone. Eight states now have provisions allowing the carrying of concealed weapons on public post-secondary campuses. Even though over 90 percent of violence against college students occurs off-campus, the gun lobby has been pushing hard to add guns to an environment that historically hasn't needed them.
DoSomething.org is launching a campaign to take a stand against guns on campuses. They have a petition, and a social media campaign called #GunsOut which features college students showing off their muscles — the only guns they want on campus.
