Grandma Who Invited Wrong Teen To Thanksgiving Does It Again, Reminding Us What The Holidays Are All About

The holidays are about love for everyone, not just family and friends.

With Thanksgiving behind us and more holidays approaching, everyone's fun stories about how they spend their time with loved ones are being shared. But some holiday traditions have the most peculiar backstory.

One story that stands out in particular is that of Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton. Dench accidentally sent a thanksgiving text invite to the wrong number thinking it was her grandson, but it was actually Hinton. After Dench told Hinton she was his grandmother, Hinton requested photographic proof. Realizing the mixup, Hinton jokingly asked if he could still get a Thanksgiving plate to which Dench replied, "Of course you can." The rest is history.

Their story has since gone viral, and the two continued their new holiday tradition this year by sharing Thanksgiving again,   reminding us all that the holidays are about giving and sharing love with everyone.

According to The Arizona Republic, this year, the teen brought along his girlfriend and pumpkin pie.

"It was really nice having everybody here," Dench told the Phoenix-based paper. "We got to laugh about last year and reminisce about how it all blew up on our phone, and how I had to change my number. We had a laugh and a good time."

"For him to continue with the relationship, I'm just really pleasantly surprised," Dench said. "We're more of [an] extended family and, best of all, friends."

The Tempe teen and Mesa grandmother truly formed a bond. The pair say they speak about once a week. Hinton fills Dench in on his future plans of going to law school. The 18-year-old says he considers Dench an adopted grandmother.

Hinton and his girlfriend spent the evening with Dench and her family before heading off to his other grandmother for a second Thanksgiving meal.

"The world is becoming a better place than it used to be," Hinton said. "I'm loving it. I love that you don't have to know someone or know their background to be nice to them."

Their holiday tradition seems to be locked in, as Dench says she offered Hinton a "standing invitation" for Thanksgiving dinners to come.
