A 68-year-old Texas grandfather visiting Rio de Janeiro became a surprise sporting spectacle thanks to his 19-year-old grandson and Twitter.
Wayne McEntire was aboard a train in Rio de Janeiro with grandson Britton Barker when a man offered McEntire one of the seats reserved for the elderly. According to ABC News, Barker said his grandfather "very respectfully declined" the offer before grabbing one of the steel poles and using his arms, shoulder, and core muscles to bring his body parallel with the train floor.
Barker posted a picture of the feat to Twitter where it rapidly generated more than 55,000 retweets and thousands of likes.
"He's always been one to put on a show and entertain me and my two brothers, so I knew he had something in store," Barker told Huffington Post UK. "There was no hesitation of any sort or anything like that, he just grabbed the pole and hoisted himself up right there for everyone to see."
ABC News reports that McEntire is an Olympics fan that has been traveling to the games since 1984.
If his current fitness level is any indication, perhaps we'll see him in the games in 2020.
