A Tech Giant Debuted A New Messaging App Today, And It Just Might Change Your Life

Google just out-Googled itself.

There’s a new texting app in town, and it might just be a game-changer.

Even if you never use external messaging apps on your smartphone, Google's new Gboard may be worth a try.

What gives this app an edge over others isn't its seamless addition to your normal keyboard or its ability to save you scrolling time by instantly searching for GIFs and emojis.

Google has done the most Google thing possible by letting you search and send information — from your keyboard.

Gone are the days of leaving your conversation mid-text to open the search app, find the desired information, copy that information, reopen the messaging app, and finally paste the information into a text. From news articles to flight times to, most importantly, restaurant locations, Gboard has the potential to revolutionize the way we share information via text.

Making brunch plans has never been easier.

According to Google's blog, "Results appear as cards with the key information front and center, such as the phone number, ratings and hours. With one tap, you can send it to your friend and you keep the conversation going."

Because Gboard acts as another keyboard, it works in every app from messaging to email to all your favorite social media.

The app was released on Friday, May 13 and is currently available for iPhone.
