A Brilliant Use Of Hashtags Is Taking Charity To A New Level

Black Friday, Thanksgiving, Christmas: 'Tis the season to give and receive from your family and friends. But one day and a few organizations are taking that giving attitude to the next level.

GoodWorld Inc., a new organization promoting donations directly through Facebook and Twitter, has jumped into the #GivingTuesday tradition by starting their Million Dollar Challenge for December. Here's how it works: see a charity you like, comment on social media with the hashtag "donate" and the amount of money you'd like to give, and you're one quick sign up away from giving to your favorite charity.

But here is the best part: for every donation of over $20, Good World is going to donate an extra dollar on top of whatever you gave. Their goal is to give away one million dollars in December alone.

"I really believe that giving is a super power," GoodWorld founder and CEO Dale Nirvani Pfeifer told A Plus. "There is a huge amount of research that shows that if you are generous it brings good things into your life: it makes you feel happier, it makes you more connected with other people, particularly if you do it on social media."

GoodWorld already works with over 1,200 nonprofits, including UNICEF, Save the Children, Oxfam, Humane Society International and the ALS Association. They have an all-star cast of advisors and investors, such as best-selling author Adam Grant, former CFO of Microsoft and General Motors Chris Liddell, and Paypal co-founder Max Levchin.
