'Jane The Virgin's' Gina Rodriguez Is Writing A Special Book, Just In Time For Father's Day

What a beautiful gift

This Father's Day, you'll probably get your dad a new tie, some socks, maybe a watch or a fancy gadget. But the star of Jane the Virgin has us all beat. It was just announced that Gina Rodriguez is writing a book honoring her dad, titled I Can and I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me. The actress has spoken publicly about how much her father has inspired and influenced her, most notably in her 2015 Golden Globe acceptance speech for Best Actress in a TV Comedy. The book, which will include personal essays as well as advice and stories from her father, is expected to come out in 2016.

Rodriguez said in a statement: "My father would always remind me to give away your blessings to make room for more. This book has been a dream of mine for many years now, a love letter to a father who has given me strength I only know is right to share with others. If you can move, stretch, teach, inspire, encourage and motivate others by telling your stories why wouldn't you?" The title of the book comes from her Golden Globes speech, which she ended by sharing this anecdote with the audience: "My father used to tell me to say every morning, 'Today's going to be a great day, I can and I will.'"

Next Father's Day, we know what book we'll be giving our dads.
