Jessica Casanova, a senior at Buffalo, N.Y.'s Charter School for Applied Technologies found out last week that fairy tales do sometimes come true. The teenager wore a gorgeous Badgley Mischka gown to prom. What made it really special was that the dress was previously worn by Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez when she won the Best Actress Golden Globe, and who gave it to the teenager after an exchange on Twitter.
It all started when Casanova, 17, tweeted to Rodriguez, and received an unexpected reply.
Sure enough, Rodriguez came through, making the teen's night one to remember.
While speaking with the Buffalo News, Casanova's mother, Michelle Martinez, reflected on her daughter's appreciation of Jane the Virgin. "She's a strong woman," Martinez said of Rodriguez's character on the show. "And that's the way my daughter is."
"I feel very proud, you know," Martinez remarked to the paper. "She deserves it."
"There are not enough words I could possibly say to show her what she has done," Casanova said of Rodriguez in an interview with E! News. "Thanks to her, I will never forget my night."
Pretty awesome stuff.
