Young 'Stranger Things' Actor Using Instagram To Show Appreciation For His Fans

He wants to take a picture with you.

Netflix's hit summer series Stranger Things hasn't just reignited our nostalgia for the '80s — it's also introduced us to some incredibly talented young actors. Thirteen-year-old Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin on the show, is responding to his newfound fame with kindness and gratitude, as evidenced by his Instagram account.

Earlier this week, Gaten shared his sweet new philosophy for taking selfies with fans:

I'm starting a new thing. Every fan that stops me and asks me to take a picture with them, I will ask them to take a picture with me because they mean as much to me as I mean to them.

He posted the message alongside his inaugural fan photo, writing, "This guy was awesome, I couldn't resist having him be in the start of my new trend."

Since then, Gaten has held true to his promise, posting photo after photo with fans and thanking them in the captions.

I got stopped again. Thank you for taking a picture with me.

It's amazing to see a young actor handle public attention so graciously. It seems to be part of Gaten's overall approach to life. For instance, he's been participating in the #22PushUpChallenge to raise awareness for the issue of veteran suicide.

He also recently shared his thoughts on negative comments he was seeing on some of his pictures:

Thank you to those who spread kindness and positive vibes, maybe some other people could learn from your actions and kind words! I love all my fans and I'd love it even more if you all spread love to each other.

In a time when cyberbullying and social media harassment continue to affect celebrities and non-celebrities alike, we're glad Gaten has chosen to use his platform to spread positivity.
