11 Things To Do With Your Bestie For Galentine's Day

No. 7 should be every weekend tbh.

If you don't have a sweetie for Valentine's Day, grab your best girlfriend and celebrate an even better holiday, Galentine's Day. The nonofficial holiday, which is widely recognized on February 13,  was popularized by a Parks and Recreation episode, but has transcended into a real life day for celebrating your gal pals.

Even though there's way less pressure planning a perfect Galentine's Day, it's still easy to get stumped on what to actually do. Read on for some fun and creative ways to spend some time with your girls on this special day.

1. Binge-watch your favorite television shows featuring other gal pals.

Junk food + her Netflix account + your Hulu account = the perfect stay-at-home Galentine's Day. Binge on feminist-y TV shows and movies for a healthy dose of girl power. You can spend the day watching other BFF duos like Abbi and Ilana of Broad City or Issa and Molly of Insecure. Maybe check out some classics like Sex in the City or Living Single.

2. Treat each other to a dinner and a movie.

Friendships can be just as full of love as romantic relationships. Sometimes our best friends can be our soulmate. Spoil your bestie with a dinner and allow her to treat you to a movie afterwards.

3. Volunteer at a women’s shelter.

Women empowering women is a forever mood. So why not spend this Galentine's Day spreading some love to women who need it most. You and your besties can volunteer your time at local women's shelters or clinics. Other ways to show support include making a large donation to a women's organization or signing up to be a mentor at a empowerment program for young girls.

4. Host a wine and chocolate-inspired potluck.

Potlucks are way more fun when they have a theme. For Galentine's Day, host the ultimate food fest inspired by wine and chocolate. That's right, a whole meal of savory and sweet delectables made with wine or chocolate.  It's a great way to get your guests to think out-of-the-box for their dishes, and it's an awesome reason to indulge in chocolate and wine.

5. Have an arts and crafts day.

Some of the best gifts are handmade. Spend the day with your girls making crafty friendship items like DIY bracelets, artsy cards, photo frames, or a scrapbook full of your best memories.

6. Throw a slumber party.

Party like it's your high school senior year! Slumber parties are an oldie but a goodie when it comes to spending real quality time with your gals. Order some pizza, listen to music, and have your drinking games ready. You can host at your place or, if you really want to get fancy, book a hotel suite in the city for a luxurious night of fun.

7. Get all dolled up and hit the town.

When is the last time you and your girls had a good night out? For Galentine's Day, treat yourselves to a night on the town — maybe even somewhere out of your city. Make this night a real VIP experience by booking a chauffeur for the evening, wearing something new, and getting glammed up. If you want to add some extra fun, change your names for the night and embrace your alter egos.

8. Host a nail decorating party.

Nail art is major these days. Celebrate your ladies with a DIY nail salon where you all try your best to create fun designs on each other's nails. Or, it might just be easier (and more successful) to hire a nail artist to come over and give you ladies an at-home spa treatment.

9. Write and recite a friendship toast

This one's for all my fellow sappy-friends out there. Show your friends how much you truly love them by sharing some heartfelt words. This is best done at a dinner or some sort of intimate event where you are all together. Have your guests write a special toast about each friend and share as you go around the table. Be sure to have tissues on hand because the tears will definitely come.

10. Paint and sip.

Book a paint and sip class for you and your girlfriends. If possible, ask the instructor if you and your squad can paint a portrait of an old photo of you all. It's a wonderful way to spend time with your girls as well as do something new and exciting.

11. Have a photoshoot.

Make this Galentine's Day one to remember by booking a professional photoshoot session. (Or you can totally just get creative using your phone.) Get your glam on and take some fun shots with your crew. You'll forever look back on this day with a smile.
