Fruits and vegetables are great to incorporate into your healthy diet, and to make life a little easier, BuzzFeed recently released a video titled "9 Life-Changing Fruit Hacks" to help us get the most from our fruits.
The video features three mouth-watering fruits: avocado, mango, lemon, and chili pepper, and hacks you will absolutely learn to love.
First up, the video shows how to best slice those hard-to-cut mangoes we so crave in the summertime.
Slice the mango down the sides and around the pit and then slide it down the rim of the glass. Voila! The glass perfectly fits the shape of the mango and easily separates it from the peel.
You can also cut small squares into the fruit and pop it out for the perfect bite.
Moreover, mangos are an excellent source of fiber (among other vitamins), which aids with digestion, according to Livestrong.com.
Whether you're slicing up an avocado into an Instagram-worthy 'avocado rose' for your breakfast toast or eating it for all its incredible health benefits, the avocado is yet another fruit we're learning to hack.
To help tell if it's ripe, BuzzFeed reminds us to all off the end and check out the color. If it's brown, it's ripe. If it's green, it's a no-go.
Other tips: keep the pit in the avocado to keep it fresh in storage or freeze them to help them last longer.
Did you know you could microwave a lemon for 15 seconds to make it easier to juice? And once it's ready, use tongs to make it easier to squeeze into your drink or onto your food.
For a fresh spring cocktail, try mixing up a "Limoncello Collins," which features limoncello, gin, lemon juice, lemon slices, club soda, and mint. With that, you're ready for a relaxing day by the pool.
Hacking a chili is perhaps the most simple: just put it on everything! The chili pepper adds a killer kick to just about any dish, including mangoes, watermelon, and cucumbers.
Plus, BBC.com explains:
"We now know that chillies are also a good source of antioxidants. Forty-two grams of the spice would account for your recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, although admittedly that would make for a pretty strong curry. They are also rich in vitamin A, as well as minerals such as iron and potassium."
Of course, there are pros and cons to eating too much spice, but adding an extra kick to your diet is sure to keep things exciting.
