This Dad Thinks The World Should Be Like This Photo Of His Daughter And Her BFF

"This is the way I want the world to be ..."

When Frank Somerville thinks about the world and how he would like it to be, he only needs to look at a photo of his adopted daughter, Callie, and her best friend, Kendall. The dad and KTVU journalist recently shared an emotional post on his Facebook page about what he sees when he looks at photos of the two girls together.

"This is the way I want the world to be. That's my daughter (on the left in the 1st picture) with her best friend Kendall on the right. They were born two weeks apart. They've been best friends ever since. Every time I see them together I always think of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: 'I have a dream that one day little black boys and black girls will he able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.' 'I have a dream today.' I hope that doesn't sound sappy. Because it's really how I feel. And quite honestly it makes me very emotional thinking about it. I'm not exactly sure why. But it does. The bottom line is this: We're all pieces of the same puzzle. We're all human. Who cares what color we are. It makes no difference. #StayKind #GoOutAndInspireSomeoneToday"

Somerville shared the post on May 9 and it has amassed 10,000 likes in less than 24 hours. The universal message about love that the photos promote is also resonating with Facebook users.

One commenter wrote

"I get emotional, too. I am still a believer that we are more alike than we are different, and that if we look at life through the eyes of a child, maybe we would all be a little happier."

Another added, "My Pastor once said that each one of us on earth make up the body together, we can't function without each other therefore we should just love each other."

While identity is not something to be ignored, it's always important to remember that, at our core, we are all human.
