First, This Teen Designed Her Own Prom Gown. Now, She's Making Dresses For Celebrities.

She's making a splash in the fashion world and she's barely out of high school.

When Kyemah McEntyre, an 18-year-old from New Jersey, designed her own gown for prom, she was taking a stand against the bullies who had harassed her for years in school. The brightly hued dress with a deep V-cut created a sensation online when the statuesque teen posted photos of herself on Instagram posing in it back in June.

"Don't let anyone define you. Beautiful things happen when you take pride in yourself," McEntyre wrote on one photo.

And indeed, another beautiful thing has happened for the talented teen who is heading to Parson's School of Design in the fall. Naturi Naughton, an actress on the Starz drama Power and a former member of the R&B group 3LW (for those of you whose memories extend all the way back to the '90s), was floored, just like the rest of us were, and reached out to the young designer to get her to create a look for the BET Awards.

She said that at first, she couldn't believe she had really been given that opportunity:

"It was surreal. It took me an hour after it happened for it to sink in. I really appreciate her for putting me out there," the up-and-coming designer told Cosmpolitan about watching Naughton walk down the red carpet in the dress she had created.

Though this is the first time McEntyre's design has appeared on the red carpet, we doubt it's going to be the last.

Watch Naughton talk about the dress with Wendy Williams.
