Baseball Teammates Tried To Prank A Rookie. His Swift Prank Back Is Even Better.

Ride solo, brother.

Richie Shaffer is a 24-year-old rookie for the Tampa Bay Rays of the MLB, and like most players, he was pretty excited to hit his first-ever major league home run. Usually teammates take note of such an accomplishment, and not only was the home run Shaffer's first, it was also his first hit of any kind.

The Rays are a pretty middle-of-the-road team, but know how to have some fun, so Shaffer's teammates pretended to be busy with their own huddle as he came back into the dugout following the long ball. Not to be outdone, Shaffer decided to one-up the prank by having a little celebration of his own.

First let's take a look at the home run.

Solid. Nice shot. But keep reading for the real show.

After rounding the bases, Shaffer gets back to the dugout and no one's waiting to congratulate him.

"Cool huddle guys. I'm still gonna high five something. Even if it's air."

"Thanks man! Yeah, I'm pumped."

"Bring it in for the hug. Yeah, we did it."

NOW the teammates finally wake up.

Congrats, Richie. Check out the full video below:
