When a father of the bride told photographer Delia Blackburn to "be prepared" as he walked down the aisle this past Saturday, she wasn't sure what to expect. But she stood ready and caught a beautiful moment between two very important men in the bride's life.
As Todd Bachman brought his daughter to the beginning of the aisle, he went toward the seats and, to everyone's surprise, grabbed the bride's stepfather by the hand. The two of them together then walked her down the aisle.
"No one had seen it coming," Blackburn told A Plus in an interview. "Every single person was crying."
The LaGrange, Ohio, photographer told A Plus that the moment meant so much to the bride as there had been tension between the family.
"She was so happy that her family came together," she said.
The next day, Blackburn posted images of the special gesture to her business' Facebook page with the story, where it went viral. In three days, her post got more than 1 million likes and has been shared more than 440,000 times.
She included a message in the post that drove that point home: "Families are what we make them ... make it about your kids and not your ego," she wrote.
