Calling a male boxer a "boxer" and a female boxer a "girl boxer" isn't just weird-sounding, it's also sexist. After all, girls have just as much claim to a sport as guys.
Everlast, a boxing retailer, decided to drive this point home with their new "I'm a boxer" ad. A girl is featured training at a boxing gym, and she has a dream much more important than winning.
"I imagine a world where it doens't matter if you're a boy or a girl, what matters is how well you play. So don't call me a female boxer. I'm a boxer."
The ad closes with the Everlast tagline: "Greatness is within."
No matter what gender you are.
