Gut-Wrenching Slam Poem Names All That Is Wrong With Love In The Modern World

"When did love go out of fashion?"

Making relationships last is a lot of hard work. But it feels like nowadays the hardest work is trying to make them happen in the first place.

We've become so jaded by the widely propagated hookup culture, we're no longer willing to go the long run. We come, we see, we conquer. And then we move on ... as if letting down our shield and being vulnerable in front of another person will rip an infinite hole in our hearts.

Or, as spoken word poet Erin Anastasia would put it:

Anastasia's slam poem "I F*cking Love You," that she performed at the Montclair State University, perfectly addresses all of the issues with modern dating, romance, and love.

From the hyper-consumerist approach to dating that makes people jump into bed before even learning how to properly pronounce each other's names ...

... to the fact that we rarely even have the courage to open up to someone and be sincere about our feelings, hopes, and dreams anymore.

Instead, we hide it underneath a certain bravado, pretending as if all we care is how many Tinder matches we scored.
