Ellen DeGeneres Revealed The Death Of Her Father In A Touching Tribute

"He was very proud of me."

Ellen DeGeneres shared some sad news with her talk show audience this week. Her father, Elliott DeGeneres, recently passed away at age 92. The host paid moving tribute to him on the show, sharing both an old photo and a touching new one.

"He was very proud of me. He loved this show," DeGeneres shared. "He was a kind man, a very accepting man. There was not one bone of judgment in his body. He was very funny — I think my brother Vance and I got our sense of humor from him."

She went on to recall their family vacation to the Warner Bros. lot, where she now works and has her own stage named after her. "Before he passed away, I got to talk to him, so I got to say goodbye to him," DeGeneres explained, sharing a photo of the rainbow she saw over her studio ten minutes before he passed away. "I got a rainbow before he died."

As E! News points out, and as DeGeneres mentioned, this isn't the only difficulty the host is facing this week. She also spoke about the devastation in her Montecito neighborhood following the recent California mudslides. DeGeneres shared her appreciation for her audience's "positivity and love" at such a difficult time, telling them, "Today, I need you, because there's a lot going on in my life right now."
