Ellen DeGeneres Recognizes A Woman For Her Incredible Kindness, Asks Us All To Pay It Forward

One exceptionally kind woman was just recognized by a very important person: Ellen Degeneres.

"Every day I end each show with a reminder to be kind to one another and this next story is a perfect example of how one small act of kindness can go a very long way," DeGeneres said before calling Kelly to the stage during a taping of The Ellen Show.

Kelly explained that on her way home from a sports game, she noticed a homeless woman out in the cold. At first, she passed by.

But then something stopped Kelly, and she went back and spoke with the woman one on one. Though they had limited time, Kelly felt a special connection and wanted to give her the winter boots she was wearing.

They were both the same size.

Remarkably enough, the homeless woman traded in her own old boots so that Kelly wouldn't walk home barefoot.

The kind act wasn't atypical for Kelly. From donating food to firemen, nurses, and doctors, to organizing donations for kids whose parents are incarcerated, her work is beyond admirable.

Following Kelly's story, DeGeneres handed her $20,000 — $10,000 to give to her friends so that they can pay it forward and $10,000 for herself.

DeGeneres wrapped up by asking viewers to be kind in their own way and start their own kindness campaign with the hashtag #BeKindToOneAnother.

"It can big, it can be small, doesn't matter, as long as it's kind. I really think we need this out in the world right now," she said.

The hashtag has ignited on social media, with people sending out tweets like the ones below:
