This Teacher Is Taking The Jitters Out Of The First Day Of School With An Awesome Rap Video

Check one, two. Check one, two.

The first day of school can be nerve-racking for students. It can be equally tough for teachers starting their first day teaching at a school.

To make things a little easier, Dwayne Reed decided to do something a little different for his first day teaching at Jane Stenson Elementary School in Skokie, IL.

He explained on his Bandcamp page, that he is a 4th grade teacher, and wanted to "spice it up" for his new students by introducing himself with a a song "they could jam to."

His song begins, "Welcome to the 4th grade, so happy to meet you / Can't wait 'til I see you / We're gonna have a good time."

He was also sure to emphasize what his students would be learning about, rapping: "We'll learn about science / Find ways to apply it / I bet that you'll like it / We're gonna have a good time.

On his website, Reed says he'll be sure to include a welcome letter for students and parents in addition to his unique introduction, but thought the song would help them get a better idea of the kind of teacher he'll be. "Between "eatin' pizza" and "making songs to remember what ya hear," these students seem like they are going to have a one of a kind year with Mr. Reed.

Even though "Having fun can be cool," as he says, that can only be done "When we're following the rules." He stressed that they have to keep it "positive" and that his job is to prepare his students for the 5th grade and beyond. It is also important to him that his new students respect each other, the school and other faculty.
