Ken Jeong And Shaq Are The 'Drop The Mic' Matchup You Never Knew You Needed

James Corden called it "the best rap battle we've had."

Sunday night's Drop the Mic season premiere gave us a rap battle we never knew we needed — comedian Ken Jeong vs. NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. But don't let the unexpected pairing fool you. James Corden, whose Late Late Show segment inspired the series, called the matchup "incredible" and said it "might be the best rap battle we've had on the show."

There were, of course, plenty of digs about Jeong's height and O'Neal's many endorsement deals. The Hangover actor was a bundle of energy, while O'Neal — who put out a few rap albums of his own in the '90s — balanced him with a cooler approach.

"Went from a doctor to an actor trying to make money," said O'Neal, referring to Jeong's previous profession. "They say laughter's the best medicine, how come you're not funny?"

But Jeong didn't let him off the hook. "I'm surprised to hear that you're the greatest rapping athlete," he shared. "I assume, like everything else, Charles Barkley has you beat."

As convincing as their beef may seem, it was all in good fun. In fact, O'Neal said in a recent interview with Corden, "I just want to say, Ken Jeong is the funniest man I've ever met in my life," adding, "It was actually a tough battle."
