Ivanka Trump Follows These Celebrities On Instagram, So They Sent A Message To Her

"Dear Ivanka ..."

Celebrities on Instagram who are followed by Ivanka Trump hoped to use the social media platform this week to send a powerful message to the first daughter. Users including Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung, and Olivia Wilde posted an open message to Trump asking for her to advocate for undocumented immigrants, a group whose future remains uncertain after Donald Trump announced the end of the Obama-era DACA policy in September. As the six months given by the White House for Congress to take action continues to pass without any legislative headway, activists and celebrities are taking using any means available to focus attention on the issue.

Per BuzzFeed, the Instagram message was first posted by Sophia Amoruso, CEO of online store Nasty Gal, who tagged Trump in the post. From there, it was picked up by other celebrities who count the first daughter among their followers.

The post reads:

"Dear Ivanka, I see you're following me on Instagram. This Thanksgiving I would be grateful if you use the influence you have to advocate for a CLEAN Dream Act by December. Every day that passes without a clean Dream Act means anxiety and deportation for immigrant youth. 7,901 youth have already lost DACA and 122 will lose it each day. Thank you and Happy Holidays."

Under the Dream Act, nearly 800,000 immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children were granted temporary protection from deportation. At the beginning of this month, thousands took to Capitol Hill to advocate for a new version of such legislation, and others have attended town halls held by their congressmen to demand to know where they stand on the issue.

As of publication, Trump has not commented on the posts.
