This Is How Dating In 2015 Will Look Like, Research Says

A must-read.

You never know what your love life has in store for you. Luckily for all of us, TimeOut polled more than 11,000 people to find how what's happening in dating around the world.

Here's the run-down.

Paris is the number one city for dating.

Paris is known as a city of love, be it for romantic strolls along the Seine, mysterious Frenchmen or beautiful women who can actually pull off wearing red lipstick 24/7.

Now, according to the poll results, Paris is also the crème de la crème when it comes to dating. It scored 83 points out of 100, based on typical attitudes that Parisians hold towards dating and the fraction of single Frenchies that took the survey. You might want to brush up your French, guys. You know, just in case after reading this, you suddenly decide to move to Paris.

The next hot spots for dating were:

2. Melbourne (81 points)

3. Kuala Lumpur (74 points)

4. Beijing (59 points)

5. Chicago (58 points)

6. London (55 points)

7. New York (52 points)

8. Sydney (50)

9. Los Angeles (50)

10. Tokyo (49)

If you are about to date a Parisian, chances are, that person will go all CIA on you.

The poll suggests that 73 percent of both Parisian ladies and gentlemen research their dates online before meeting up. The average of all respondents around the world is a little more than 50 percent

Well, we all want to know what we're getting into, right?

Singles in New York are the least happy.

The poll results suggest that as many as 45 percent of all New Yorkers are "sad to be single".

Things, however, work differently halfway across the globe.

In Sydney people are proud to be single.

Brits have the sexiest accents.

Basically anyone who lives in a flat in London, drinks tea and eats scones can make anything sound sexy. According to the poll, 27 percent of all respondents around the world agreed that Brits have the most dateable accents

Wait. Does that mean that British English is the new language of love? Sorry, France.

The runners-up with hot, but not as hot, accents were:

2. Americans (8.7 percent)

3. Irish (8.1 percent)

4. Australians (8 percent)

5. French (7.7 percent)

6. Italians (6 percent)

7. Spanish (4.9 percent)

8. Scottish (4.7 percent)

9. Latin Americans (4.1 percent)

10. Scandinavians (3.3 percent)

53 percent of all dates are sealed with a kiss.

Well why the heck not?

12 percent of all dates develop into serious relationships.

These statistics actually are not that bad at all.

But how good of a date are you?

If you had to rate your dating skills from one to ten, what would it be?

According to the survey, the average score respondents gave themselves was 7.3. Not that bad, people. That being said, the average score respondents gave their average date was 6.5.

The results also suggest that things might be a little trickier than usual if you happen to be a female in Chicago. Their average dates were rated 5.6, the lowest in the world.

Meanwhile, respondents in Lost Angeles proved to be the most confident in the entire world about their dating skills. They self-rated themselves with an exceptional 8. Whoa.

One out of ten people have dated their boss.

OK, so one in ten on the average might sound like a lot, but lots of folks are attracted to success and power.

17 percent of people around the world have dated their best friend.

That's almost every fifth person. Almost, but not quite. Well, if you and your best friend go together like peas and carrots, why not take things to the next level?

If you need more convincing, we recently covered a list of weird, but certainly good weird, things that happen when you date your best friend. Might be worth checking out.

More people did the no-no thing than you think.

Oh no, you didn't.

A whopping 38 percent of respondents around the world admitted to having dated someone who's in a relationship already. 41 percent of these "someones" where actually married to another person.

No judgment. We've all seen "The Notebook."

Bankers and finance people are really in demand.

According to the study, a lot of singles out there want to date bankers and finance people. To give you a feel for the numbers: 13 percent of women and 12 percent of men in Hong kong, 10 percent of ladies in Chicago and 8 percent of gents in Kuala Lumpur.

People also lust over creatives.

Are you a creative? If so, good for you. Because people around the world think being one is really hot. 10 percent of all New Yorkers and 11 percent of all Parisians would actually prefer dating one.

If you look nothing like your profile picture, that's a big deal breaker in New York, Chicago and LA.

Yep. You read that right. If the person in your profile picture doesn't really look like the real you, chances are that there will be no second date with 59 percent of LA ladies, 64 percent of New York men and 50 percent of Chicago gents.

One out of 10 respondents believed that sex is appropriate after the first date.

When you know, you know, right?

However, the global average for the number of dates required before sleeping with someone is 3.53.

The cat is out of the bag. Now, you know the truth.
