Lorna Johnson was a mother of four and grandmother of 10 before passing away to lung cancer at the age of 56. Instead of mourning her death in a traditional sense, however, the large family elected to celebrate her love of Halloween and parties by asking attendees to dress in costumes for her funeral.
The result was a crowd of festively dressed people, including several witches, Beetlejuice and the Tasmanian Devil. Even the funeral director joined in, leading the procession as none other than Darth Vader.
Johnson's son, Neil, said of the thinking behind the funeral: "My mum's always said you need to celebrate, you need to have a party. So we're not going to sit around feeling sorry for ourselves. My mum wouldn't want that."
