This Video Of Dallas Residents Lining Up To Hug Police Officers Will Melt You

Showing gratitude to those who wear the shield.

After a shooting at a peaceful protest killed five police officers last night, thousands of people packed Thanks-Giving Square Park in Dallas for an interfaith prayer service on Friday.

When the public service concluded, some Dallas residents weren't done showing their gratitude to the police.

A video captured by Atlanta Buzz showed dozens of people lining up to hug a group of police officers after the service.

The nearly 11-minute video featured a diverse group of people offering their condolences to the cops and thanking them for their service. There were even a few tears shed.

"I appreciate you," a woman in the video said while hugging a cop. "I appreciate what you do for this city. And I appreciate the sacrifice that you make each and every day. And I'm so glad that you guys are here."

"It means a lot to us," an officer said in the video. "It's heartwarming. And we need to work as a community. We need this right now."

The video has received more than 24 million views over the past day.
