When the long wait for Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally came to an end a few months ago, its success catapulted leads Daisy Ridley and John Boyega to worldwide superstardom. If their reactions to the film's first full trailer were any indication, the sudden fame came as a shock, but luckily they've remained relatively humble throughout it all. In Ridley's case, she's probably been hounded nonstop by endless fans who've fallen hopelessly in love her. So she definitely deserves credit for how politely she deflects the attention.
Every now and then, though, the fan who goes out of his or her way to be creative with that attention deserves a pat on the back too. Recently, Davidson College student Kevin Carlock put together an extensive rap video asking Ridley out to his spring formal. It's over the top, but that's what you have to do to catch a famous actress' attention these days. Check it out:
Once Ridley caught wind of the video, she sent her response out via Instagram:
Probably thrilled he got a response at all, Carlock hit her back in a similar fashion:
Honestly, her excuse is a pretty good one — filming the follow-up to one of the most commercially successful films ever is a commitment that's hard to take time away from. Nice try, Carlock. Maybe next time.
