Just like every parent, Florida dad Wayman Gresham knows there's no secret formula to good parenting. You have to get your hands dirty, succeed and fail miserably a few times before you really nail it down.
And it's kind of nice to know there are other people just like you tapping into this parenting thing and searching for best practices on how NOT to turn their kids into schmucks. But be aware — everyone has their own methods, which are not always exemplary.
To address this issue, Gresham filmed himself trying out one of the newst popular discipline techniques. But there's a major twist in his video.
The video starts with Gresham saying "I'm here to teach my son a lesson."
Upset with his son Isaiah's behavior, he threatens to give him a "bald head, messed up haircut." He'd noticed other parents using bad haircuts to discipline kids on social media.
But just as the razor starts buzzing, Gresham turns it off and gives his son a big hug. Why? He has a pitch perfect explanation.
According to Gresham, "good parenting starts before [kids] even get to the point of being out of control."
In the video and his Facebook posts Greshman clearly states that he is not against discipline per se, but he thinks that public humiliation, shaming and violence against children is NOT the way to set an example.
