It's not easy to capture a moment.
Sure, we can take photographs, videos, record sounds, but ultimately, they all just represent the events that took place at a certain time in our lives. To really capture a moment, you need to get ahold of the feeling, the emotion behind it.
And what better way to do that than to jot it down on a piece of paper? Even better if it ends up being a beautiful illustration that not only documents what you were doing, but how you felt while doing it.
Confused? Take a look at this artist's project to get a better idea of what we're talking about.
Back in 2011, Michigan-based wedding photographer Curtis Wiklund started a sketch blog dedicated to the daily life of his family.
Wiklund says he was inspired by his wife, Jordin, who was doing her own 365-day photography project. He decided to take on the challenge himself and start making one illustration per day for a whole year.
Thus, drawings365 Tumblr blog was born where Wiklund shared his daily sketches with the world.
Surprisingly, what began as a simple creativity exercise, ended up being a beautiful tribute to love, proving there's still room for romance even in daily life.
"During that year, many people told us they felt like they got to know us better through the drawings, like they were a peek into our personal life," Wiklund writes in his website.
Wiklund continues to post occasional illustrations on his Tumblr blog, and is prepping to publish a coffee table book of his sketches.
