This Couple Isn't Worried About Their Age Gap, But She Does Have One Fear

"That's really the only thing that terrifies me."

Catherine and Melvin have been married for 10 years, and, from the way they speak about each other in a video uploaded to YouTube by Glamour Magazine, they're still very much in love.

Of course, their relationship hasn't been without its challenges, particularly because of their significant age difference.

In the video, the two discuss their favorite memories, the lessons they've learned as husband and wife, their sex life, their age gap, their fears, and their love for one another, among other things.

In the beginning of the video, which is also a part of "The { } And," an interactive documentary that explores modern-day relationships, Catherine explains that when the two were first getting together, she faced opposition from people she thought she could trust.

"Pretty much everybody stopped talking at my house for a long time," Catherine tells Melvin. But their relationship was what she wanted, regardless of what anyone else said.

"This is who I want to be with. No one else would make me happy after knowing you. So it's either you or nothing, baby. And if it wasn't going to be you then I was going to throw one hell of a fit on the way out," she adds.

Next up, they discuss how their age gap affects their relationship.

"Well, the first thing that comes to mind is having children," Melvin says. But he can't think of another thing.

He even mentions that when they're in public, people will ask him if Catherine is his granddaughter. But he doesn't mind.

Then, things take a pretty emotional turn.

"What about our dynamic relationship terrifies you?" Melvin reads to Catherine from their question cards.

"Just the thought of outliving you," she responds, getting slightly teary-eyed. "That's really the only thing that terrifies me."

And then Catherine asks Melvin what he wants her to take away from their relationship.

"Confidence," he replies. "The fact that I'm going to leave before you has come up two or three times in our conversation already. So you need the confidence to handle that...To handle your life, your situation, when I'm not there anymore. That's what I want you to take from this relationship."

Finally, Melvin tells Catherine why he really loves her.

"You're my soulmate. My friend, my best friend, and I can depend on you," he says. "There's a whole bunch of reasons. You tell me you love me every night when we go to bed."

We think that wraps things up quite nicely.
