It Looked Like His Season Was Over, Then He Returned To Win The Game

That is one tough athlete.

For many athletes, a devastating knee injury is their greatest fear.

For the Anaheim Mighty Ducks' star forward Corey Perry, that fear almost became a reality. During the Ducks playoff game against the Calgary Flames on Sunday, Perry took a frightening hit to the knee that had all the makings of a torn ACL or serious ligament damage.

After hobbling to the bench and getting off the ice, many people began speculating and assuming the worst. On the ice, tensions bubbled over as Perry's teammates fought back against what they thought was a dirty hit.

But this story didn't have a sad ending. Despite how serious the injury looked at first, Perry re-entered the game just a few minutes later.

People were admittedly baffled:

Not only did Perry return, though, but he also came back in and hit the game-winning goal in overtime. It was his 15th and most significant point of the playoffs, giving Anaheim a 3-2 victory and punching their ticket to the Western Conference finals.
