In the U.K., March 18 is National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day. Nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade every year. People and organizations in the U.K. are encouraged on this day to share photos of personal pledges to end child sex exploitation written on their hands.
"As part of this, we are always keen to take part in national campaigns and planned a week of action to coincide with National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day," a representative from Bright Futures Young Women's Project, who participated in the pledges, told A Plus. "This work has included school assemblies promoting the National Working Groups Say Something campaign, creating pledges with all young people we work with on how they can keep themselves safe and promoting these on social media using the #HelpingHands."
Here are 13 photos of people pledging to protect children from sexual exploitation.
