Cop Stays By Dying Patrol Horse's Side After She Is Hit By Truck

R.I.P. Charlotte.

Officer D. Herrejon and Charlotte, a Houston Police Department patrol horse, were struck by a truck — with the horse being fatally injured in the incident after becoming alarmed and running into traffic. Officer Ronald Curry was at her side to provide comfort in her final minutes.

A photo of the cop with Charlotte was posted on Facebook by Houston's Animal Justice League with a touching tribute. The photo has since gone viral, with messages of love and support coming from all over the world.

We've always said we support ALL animals, and know the relationship with those animals & their person is an incredible...

The Houston Police Department's Facebook page described Charlotte as a Tennessee Walker from Oklahoma who "loved her job and was always ready to go to work putting bad guys in jail or giving nuzzles to children."
