This Woman Recreates Celebrity Instagram Photos, And Accidentally Became An Advocate For Body Positivity

"I have a body, and there's a beach and therefore I have a beach body."

In 2015, we covered Celeste Barber, the hilarious comedian recreating celebrity Instagram photos for the internet's enjoyment. Her work included recreations of photos of Jennifer Lopez casually crossing the street, Kim Kardashian feeling sleepy, Justin Bieber licking a knife, and Miranda Kerr eating a burger and fries in bed, among others.

But this isn't about making fun of people. Barber told ABC Australia that this is about reminding people of the unrealistic expectations social media imposes on our everyday lives.

"At the end of the day, it's [about] having a laugh," she said. "From hailing a cab like J.Lo to beachside yoga sessions — I want to see if I can live like the privileged, rich and famous."

Since then, Barber has continued her work, putting her own spin on some of this year's most popular and recognizable celebrity photographs, like Beyoncé with her newborn twins and Kendall Jenner on holiday. She's also recreated videos of Celine Dion and Naomi Campbell — the latter of which features Barber attempting to do Campbell's yoga routine.

In May, ABC Australia announced Barber had been named WhoHaha's Funniest Lady on Instagram, and that her account has encouraged a sense of body confidence.

"I never started this thing for it to be a body-positive movement, I did it because it was funny," Barber said.

"But I'm pretty stoked that it makes people go, 'Actually you know what, I have a body, and there's a beach and therefore I have a beach body.' "

Needless to say, it's as funny as ever, and we think Barber's images work to remind us that no one is perfect, no matter how they appear on social media.
