If your favorite celebrity were to be a sandwich, what would he or she be?
In what's about to be your new favorite Instagram, Los Angeles-based artist Jeff McCarthy illustrates beloved celebs chilling on top of delicious sandwiches.
"My girlfriend and I were talking about Aziz Ansari's love of food, and how it has often come up in his comedy and on his social media," McCarthy told A Plus. "I thought it would be funny to paint him on one of the sandwiches that he's talked about."
McCarthy soon started depicting other celebrities atop their own subs in a series aptly titled "Celebs on Sandwiches." He painted comedians such as Amy Schumer and Louis C.K., actors such as Jason Segel and George Takei, and even presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
"I try to do a mix of different people and choose subjects who I think would appreciate the humor," he said. "Deciding which sandwich to pair with which celebrity sort of varies from person to person. Sometimes it's really specific. They may have talked about their love of a certain sandwich or food. Other times it's just whatever fits based on their personality."
The Internet has been loving the account, with more than 20,000 followers to date, and some celebrities, such as Drew Barrymore and Scott Disick, have taken notice and reposted their paintings.
"People seem to respond well to the absurdity of it," McCarthy said.
