This Woman Illustrated What It's Like To 'Try To Be Adults' In A Relationship, And The Images Are So, So Real

"I hope to convey the simple, silly, everyday little things we all experience in our relationships ... "

When her boyfriend John suggested she make a comic out of a silly moment the couple shared, 22-year-old Catana Chetwynd was inspired to start a sweet series of illustrations.

"When I made that comic, I was addicted, and kept making more for John, without any intention of posting them. After we had a handful, he suggested we put them online," the Saratoga Springs-based artist told A Plus.

At first, Chetwynd was reluctant to experience the Internet's criticism, but her boyfriend eventually convinced her to let him post some of the comics to the popular image sharing platform Imgur. The adorable doodles and their relatable content ensured the illustrations quickly went viral.

"When we saw them doing well and getting nice comments I relaxed a bit, and now I feel nothing but happiness when we post!" she said.

This inspired Chetwynd to create and share even more drawings on her social media accounts and website. In the description on her Instagram, she wrote that her work is a series of "comics of me and my bearded boyfriend trying to be adults."

Each one of her comics are inspired by real-life conversations the couple has with one another, although sometimes they're exaggerated.

"I hope to convey the simple, silly, everyday little things we all experience in our relationships that feel so unique and make us smile," she said. "Those moments are my favorite, even though they're only a second long. People are so serious all the time, I feel like the comic helps people to relax and chuckle."
