Carmelo Anthony is used to avoiding defenders, not fans running onto the court in the middle of a game.
That might be why he never saw the small child sneak onto the court from behind the basket on Monday night. While the moment was cute, it obviously raised some questions about security.
"I think it was because he was a little kid, they just let him go," Anthony told the Associated Press. "Definitely a security issue, though, for sure."
Fortunately, Anthony responded with nothing but love. Once the kid got his arms around his legs, the NBA All-Star gave him a hug, patted him on the head and passed him off to the official who sent him back to his seats.
"It was a little kid," Anthony explained. "I was shocked. I didn't really know who was it until I actually looked over and saw that it was a kid."
