Chewbacca Mom Reaches Full Viral Sensation, And Gets A Huge Surprise From J.J. Abrams And Chewbacca Himself

This is actually happening. In real life.

Unless you were on a mission to the moon this week, you probably saw the viral video sensation that was "Chewbacca Mom."

Since Candace Payne recorded a video on May 19 of her playing with a Chewbacca mask she found in the discount bin at Kohl's, it has garnered 2.5 million likes, 3.2 million shares, and 141.2 million views.

It easily broke BuzzFeed's record of 10.7 million views when staffers smashed a watermelon live.

Payne posted the video to Facebook using the Live feature and it quickly caught the attention of people everywhere, including Kohl's, which dropped off some additional masks for her kids.

On Monday night, she reached full viral sensation as she appeared on "The Late Late Show With James Corden."

She told Corden that she knew it was going to be huge the night she posted it. She explained she texted a friend of hers before she went to bed "1,000 flippin' views."

When she woke up the next morning, she received a status update that it had 1 million views!

While all of the above is beyond amazing, it probably doesn't compare to the clip you are about to see, where J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, dons the now-famous Chewbacca mask with Payne in this carpool sketch.

While she knew Abrams was obviously sitting in the backseat during the sketch, she actually had no idea he was initially going to be a part of it.

Watch how surprised she is as the director pops up on set prior to filming to the scene.

In addition to the Abrams surprise, she also received some good news from the actor who plays Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew.

He wrote a letter for Corden to read to Payne that informed her that he "set up a private meet and greet" at Fan Expo Dallas, and would love to meet her and her family in person.

Yeah, she couldn't believe it either. Just look at this reaction like the true fan she is.

He also wrote that he obtained four VIP passes to the expo.

We can only imagine how amazing that meet-and-greet is going to be. Hopefully, there will be some cameras on hand to film the action go down.
