A woman battling stage 4 lung cancer had her dream come true on Saturday when she received a surprise visit from her favorite singer, Jon Bon Jovi.
Carol Cesario, a mother of four, has undergone numerous stays in the hospital over the last five months. One of her daughters, Rosie Skripkunis, posted a photo of her mom in the hospital bed with a plea to meet the legendary New Jersey rocker.
After the Facebook post went viral, Skripkunis worked with Bon Jovi's team to plan a visit to the singer's restaurant in Toms River, New Jersey for a free meal. However, Skripkunis did not tell her mom that Bon Jovi would join them.
"I lied to her," Skripkunis told NBC Philadelphia. "I told her I wrote to his restaurant, that they said they couldn't pass fan mail on, but that they had invited us for a free meal. It was a free meal, but it was a free meal with Bon Jovi there."
Cesario was stunned when she turned around and saw Bon Jovi standing beside her table. Skripkunis captured the emotional moment in a Facebook video that went viral, and in several photos.
Bon Jovi spent over an hour with Cesario and her family. During their time together, Bon Jovi let her hear his new album and gave her a signed guitar.
"It was a very emotional and amazing day for our whole family and we thank you all so, so much," Skripkunis wrote on Facebook, "You have no idea what this meant to us. This is a day we will never forget. Thank you so much for these memories with our mom and her Bons."
Skripkunis recently started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her mother.
As for Cesario, meeting her longtime idol was a moment that she will always cherish.
